ROBBIALAC EPILAC PRIMER (HB) (Base & Hardener)

Epilac Primer (Hb-Base & Hardener)

  • High build coating based on a high molecular weight epoxy resin with rust inhibitive pigments and forms an ideal inter coat for many types of steel, concrete and protective coating needs
  • It is a two-component product cured with an appropriate catalyst
  • With the extra thickness it builds up it ensures a good build coat over the protective primer and the top coat polyurethane or epoxy top coats
  • Exhibits excellent resistance to moderate conditions of acidic, bases and various other chemicals
  • Has good flow and outstanding mechanical properties, accompanied with good wear and tear resistance

Designed Use:

  1. It is recommended as an intermediate coat with excellent adhesion and build up coat for tanks coatings, structural Steel work, Chemical plant Pipelines, Cranes and general steel and metal requirements

Availability:

  1. Yellow and as per customer requirement.

Coverage:

  1. The theoretical coverage of ROBBIALAC EPILAC PRIMER (HB) would be approximately 4 – 6 M² /liter per coat at a Dry film thickness of 100 -125 µ per coat

Surface preparation

    1. Avoid humid conditions >95% and also dew point of <3% for application
    2. The expected life span is directly related to the surface cleanliness. It is therefore mandatory to remove the grease, oil, wax by solvent cleaning.
      1. Any external contamination, salts can be removed by dry brush, chipping, needle gun or spot blast
      2. For stubborn surfaces give a good acid wash followed with a water wash.
    3. In case of long term life expectancy it is mandatory that good sand blasting to Swedish standard 2 or 2.5 is achieved.
    4. Ensure that the ROBBIALAC EPILAC PRIMER (HB is applied prior to and completely cured
    5. It is a two-component composition. Stir each component well with convenient mixing equipment for uniformity to ensure good mixing of all the components
    6. Mix both of them in the prescribed proportion just before application

*Not suitable for immersed conditions. The product will not cure below 10°c, dry heat resistance is 120°c. 

Method of application

Method of application:

  1. By roller/brush and if large areas are to be painted one can use suitable spray application
  2. To keep the brush/roller and spray equipment in good condition for use, clean the same in luke warm water and dry them immediately after application

Thinning recommendation:

  1. ROBBIALAC EPILAC THINNER and to the extent of maximum of 5-10% of the primer by volume.
  2. Stir well with a convenient mixing equipment for uniformity to ensure good mixing of all the components
